Combine your trip to Salisbury Cathedral with a visit to the site of the city’s original cathedral at Old Sarum (walking between the two makes for a great dog walk too). Dogs are allowed within the castle on a lead so you can all discover together the former bishop’s palace, the ruins of the old cathedral and what remains of the original settlement. On the outer bailey, dogs are allowed off-lead provided they are kept under control. This is a popular dog walking area with the locals and you are likely to meet other dogs on your travels.
Water bowls for your dog are available outside Old Sarum’s shop and dog bins can be found on the outer bailey and in the main car park.
Please note, car parking charges apply at Old Sarum unless you are English Heritage members.
